Published: November 07, 2011

  2. Three definitions for PCI success (i.e., angiographic, procedural, and clinical) are provided
  3. Includes recommendations for when, and which, patients should undergo revascularization (PCI or CABG) for coronary artery disease, including left main CAD
  4. Clinical guidance on anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy during and after PCI is provided
  5. Pre-procedural considerations are covered, including catheterization laboratory requirements, ethical aspects, radiation safety, bleeding risk and revised recommendations on PCI without surgical back up on-site
  6. Procedural considerations included are specific clinical situations (e.g., UA/NSTEMI and STEMI), stent types (bare metal vs. drug-eluting), adjunctive devices (i.e., diagnostic and therapeutic), interventional pharmacotherapy, and specific anatomic situations
  7. Recommendation on management of patients after PCI include these major post-procedural areas of how and when to use newer antiplatelet agents in patients undergoing PCI, restenosis post-BMS and DES and clinical follow-up.
